Get To Know Coaching Staff
With seven years of coaching experience, Nico Capezio brings a new philosophy to speed training that revolutionizes the way that speed has been taught in the past. After finishing his athletic collegiate career, Nico was hired as the assistant sprint/jumps coach at Plainfield North High School in 2019 and currently coaches both boys and girls at PNHS. After having success, he established the Plainfield Pumas in 2021 to give athletes throughout the Chicagoland area the opportunity to train fundamentally different than what is typically offered.
Since injuries played a massive role in Coach Capezio's life due to overtraining, he approaches speed training with a "less is more" approach. Surviving practice is not a tool for success. Coaching alongside and learning from IHSA Hall of Fame track coach Tony Holler has inspired new ideas and knowledge that will be utilized with the Pumas for years to come. Nico has used the ingredients of Tony Holler's "Feed The Cats" with David Weck's (creator of the BOSU ball) "WeckMethod" to formulate a successful recipe for improving speed.
